This weekend I hosted a Wine Party at my house. It was an idea my friend Marion suggested to me. OK, more like, TOLD me, to host at my house, but I didn't object. I love wine and most all of our friends do as well. It was a great way to try new wines that we normally might not try. Everyone was asked to bring their favorite bottle of wine along with a pairing (cheese, fruit, chocolate, etc.)
For example...I hate Merlot. Therefore, I was scared to try a Chianti. My good friend, April, brought over this bottle and I liked it! It wasn't TOO dry and had a nice flavor.
Emily, top of photo, brought over a sweeter wine (the brand and name has slipped my mind. DAMN!) and paired it with a Key Lime Pie. Sounds weird....but it was the best decision ever made, ever. Someone said, "Can we just use forks to eat from the pan?" Yes. The answer was yes.

Mmm Pepper Jack...The wine this was paired with made the wine taste SPICY! It was cool! You don't realize how important pairings are until you actually start doing it the right way.

It was such a great time- everyone enjoyed themselves and it turned out better than I had hoped.
I managed to get in a workout Saturday morning. Insanity's Pure Cardio was up- the hardest DVD of the bunch naturally. All I wanted to do was rest and sleep before the festivities, but I also knew there was NO way I'd be working out Sunday! I was cleaning all day and...uhm...resting. :)

It’s always nice to try new things that you never got to do, such as drinking a variety of wines that you thought you will not like. That small activity can even make a change in your life. Your wine parties sound really exciting! :)
