Hey guys!! Happy Friday indeed!
Yesterday, I received a phone call. Yes. Can you believe it? Ok, that's all. Bye!!!
HA! Just kidding. I received a phone call regarding a JOB OFFER in Charleston, SC! I got the job I applied for!!! HAPPY!! Excited! Scared! All of the above. I have so much to do in a short amount of time- enough time- but short, short amount. I've heard nothing but great things from all of you about Charleston so I couldn't be happier about my choice to accept the job.....Now, I just need to find a place to LIVE and rent out my house HERE! *big heavy BLAH!!!!!!!!!!!*
Here's where you all come in again- any places you recommend a single gal with two dogs to live? I hear I should live downtown at least a year to experience all of that, but to be honest, I'm OK with NOT living right downtown. I'm kinda picky when it comes to my dwelling. I'd rather have a nicer place and a SAFE place for me and my dogs than live in the middle of the action, ya know? Plus I'm not 25 anymore. I'm not an old geezer....but, yet, not 25 :) You understand me. I know you do.
Also, I don't really know ANYONE there. NO ONE. At least when I was living in D.C. I had automatic new friends who were interns with me. I'm scared, y'all!!! That's unlike me. Plus, I'll be an 8 HOUR DRIVE away from my BFF, Marion and 8 hours away from my family. SAD!!
I've made a list from other sources on places to stay. So far, I have narrowed it down to a few locations. Here is my MUST have criteria:
1. Pet Friendly obviously.
2. SAFE
3. Close to downtown. I can handle a commute, no problem, but it must be close.
4. No more than $1,150/month
5. I'll accept a 1 bedroom apartment, but I'd prefer 2. I have a lot of shit, ok?? For crying out loud I live in a 3 bedroom house now and my junk is practically overflowing. I really am scared about downgrading. Ugh. Price you pay I guess?
Places I've been told are rockin'/Ideal:
1. West Ashley area
2. Mt. Pleasant
3. James Island
Help me please!!!!!!!!
So excited!!!
Happy Friday!!

Congrats big time! My parents have two houses in South Carolina and it's a great place to live (definitely compared to where I am in MD/DC) Good luck to you!!! :)
Congrats!!! SOOO happy for you. You already have a SC friend, ME!! Email me! I will try to ask around for a few places to live for you.....
Hi! First time on your blog but I lived in Charleston for 3 years- check out the Concord apartments in West Ashley. They're nice, safe (gated) and reasonably priced. Plus they're about a 5 minute drive form downtown. Good luck!!
Congratulations on getting the job Jenny, that's hugely awesome news and I'm so pleased for you! Best of luck in everything, it's great you're so excited about it already.
Yay! Congratulations! Charleston is such a rad place, you will love it. I will get those recs we talked about asap :)
Omigosh, girl!! I am SOOOO excited for you :-D This is JUST AMAZING. Wow!! I totally understand your "not 25 anymore" thought process. Though if I were single and moving and looking for new friends, it would be SO much fun to live in the middle of it all! This all SOOOO neat-- you need to keep us updated on the deets!
Congrats on the new job!
Congrats!! It's scary, but it's exciting too. :)
I can offer no SC advice, but do come with many many congrats. So excited for you!!!!
Congratulations!!! We will be in Charleston for our anniversary celebration in June!! I've never been but know it will be one of my favorite places ever!!! I would LOVE nothing more than to move down there!!! Good luck with the house hunt!
I will agree with Lauren's suggestion about Concord in West Ashley. Just make sure you rent one that has already gotten it's balcony fixed. Cameron used to live there. Also! Right next to the apartments is a small dog park where you will meet lots of people and we could have Brady dates! :) Very quick commute to downtown, also. Email me and let me know where you'll be working!
Congrats!! Moving to a new city is so exciting :)
Jamie
Congrats! So exciting!!!
Very exciting! My cousins grew up in Summerville and really liked it, but it's pretty far out there from downtown.
Congratulations! That's awesome, I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see Charleston through your blog!
Congrats on the new job in Charleston!!! How exciting! I wish I could offer some advice on where to live, but I've only been there once! Can't wait to hear more about your upcoming move and more about the job (if you can say). Good luck!
