Caffeined up: Anthropologie Sale's fault

Happy Tuesday.

What a night. Anthropologie sales kill my sleep patterns. Even if I didn't give a hoot about any items going on sale Tuesday mornings, I'd still toss and turn out of curiosity. Am I weird? I woke up at 3:45 on my own and stumbled to my computer to see the new sale items. Nothing on my wishlist (except three pairs of sandals) was cut-back, so back to bed I went.
(Does this last pair not remind you of the shoes you used to wear in the 90s? I still love them. Chunky heels and all!)
I almost bought a pair of the sandals I wanted, but stopped myself because I knew that in the next few weeks a few of the summer dresses I've been dying for will go on sale to make room for fall stock! (Oh and P.S. Early fall stock sucks for us ladies in the deep South. Seriously. Summer doesn't end until January!! Not lying. I'm wearing summer clothes well into Christmas-time. You know how many "heavy" coats I own? ONE.)

Did any of you other Anthro Lovers buy anything from the sale?

A few people asked about the recipes from my last post and I happily constructed a recipes page (Eat This!) up there ^, in the menu bar. I'll be adding more and more- so if you're into cooking and junk, stick around.

Workout:
Last night P90X Stretch was scheduled on the calendar- I always forget that even the stretching DVD is nothing to laugh at. It has it's tough moments- I'm pretty sure it's just the P90X Yoga in disguise...My hamstrings are STILL tight (I never did get a massage last weekend) and today's a run day...What do you do for your tight muscles- Specifically those pesky hamstrings??

I have so much to say, but I'm saving it for the next few days.....
* For the fasion followers of my blog, how do you feel about a weekly fashion post from followers? You know how Kim at Anthroholic has her weekly reader fashions? I don't know about you, but I LOVE that post every week! I love to see what other outfits people put together. If any of you would be intersted in seeing this and/or participating let me know. Even if it's just three submissions a week, it could be a fun feature for the rest of my followers!

Workouts: What I did This Week & some Tats!

Kelly Brook

Amber Elizabeth- Oxygen magazine
I think if I could have any body, I'd choose one of the two above. Kelly or Amber. I love curves and thankfully I was born with natural ones, but they both, in my opinion, look fit, firm, yet sexy. Yup- I'd choose one of those. Isn't it weird, though, after you lose some weight, you finally get to see the natural shape your body is? Like, those hips that were hiding or gorgeous shoulders? It's awesome.

FINALLY after much disappointment and non-motivation- I found that motivation, and stuck to a pretty decent workout schedule last week. My goal for this week is to add more cardio days and for a longer duration of time if possible.

Workouts for the Week of Feb. 22-28

Monday:
P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps (I was sore for days afterwards. Killed me. Can't wait to do it again!)

Tuesday: (morning) 45 minutes cardio on elliptical. Butt Blaster and Leg Press machines: reps until failure.

Wednesday: (morning) 45 minutes cardio on elliptical. (Evening) P90X Legs and Back (Didn't feel booty soreness until the next day. Ouch!)

Thursday: (evening) P90X Shoulders and Arms (easier workout out of all DVDs. Still a great strength workout)

Friday: (morning) 45 minutes cardio on elliptical/5 minutes of inclined walking on treadmill (random, yeah)

Saturday: NADA

Sunday: P90X Stretch. (After this tough week, I wanted it. AND my muscles needed it.)

I can't wait for it to be Monday so I can start my routine over again! That's weird to say, and I'm so glad I'm finally into a groove I enjoy. Even though it may be 4:30 AM cardio sessions- :-)

Here's my workout goals for THIS coming week:

Monday: Morning cardio and P90X Back and Biceps

Tuesday: Morning cardio and P90X Legs and Back

Wednesday: Morning cardio (seeing the trend?) and P90X Shoulders and Arms

Thursday: Morning cardio (this is the day I usually get worn out from the week's cardio. We'll see if I can push through it and actually get up this morning.) and P90X Ab Ripper
Friday: Morning cardio

Saturday: P90X Plymometrics OR Kenpo

Sunday: P90X Yoga

Right now my cardio sessions are 45 minutes in the morning (for time sake mostly), but I want to push myself up to an hour.

Moving on...I am by no means a tatted up lady- I have one tattoo and it's this: A lipstick kissy mark on my shoulder. I loved it then and love it now and seriously- it screams "JENNY!". (Please excuse my weird no-neck pose)

So, no, I'm not all about tattoos, but from an art perspective, some can be so beautiful. For instance, this one:

The intricacy and gorgeous roses and vines. I love it! If I didn't care about marking up half the side of my body, I'd totally get this!

I may not get that anytime soon, or ever, but I do want an owl. I collect owls and so does my Grandma. I really like this one on the wrist I found online, but more than likely I'll be getting the owl on my inner right ankle...
Here is what a tattoo artist rendered for me, from an image I found online- This is what I want eventually. An owl with headphones listening to music. TWO big FAVE things in my life: Music and owls, combined. LOVE!!! That blue shading would NOT be on the tattoo, and it'd be smaller to fit on my inner ankle/leg. It's hard to see the beautiful colors- but the music notes are PINK! HELLOOO! It also has big, blue eyes like yours truly.
Tattoos aren't for everyone, but I love small, girly ones. They're just so cute and really can show your personality and feminity if placed in the right places.

Hope you all have a wonderful week! If you're working out, workout hard and keep your spirits high! :-)

Dear P90X: I forgot how much you hurt my A** muscles

Hello lovely readers!

I must start out with my workout from yesterday afternoon-Instead of traveling to the gym I dusted off my P90X DVDs and did Plyometrics. Lemme tell ya- I'm sorry I ever doubted the DVDs before (not sure why I did). I, of course, couldn't get through all the moves, was breathing, bent over, hands on hips, but you know what? I FINISHED, and did about 90% of the moves. My knee was bothering me on some fo the higher impact moves, but got through it with modifications.

That junk is tougher, and broke me into a sweat better than ANY cardio equiptment at the gym. LOVED it! It will definitely be a weekly thing from here on out- and P90X will be incorporated into my gym workouts, as well.

Today is Friday and I like today to be my OFF day. It just doesn't feel like the start of the weekend if I workout this day- it's all mental.

Yesterday it really hit me, I need to start working out HARD. Like a Ninja.

I tried on a Bill Levkoff bridesmaids dress at the store. Yeah. I was NOT happy. BUT, I totally understand all dresses are not cut equally- which baffles me by the way. Why can't they all just do a standard cut and fit? What's the point in making all brand different. Dumb. So, anyway- I tried on a 14. A 14! That sucker had about THIS MUCH gap around my back. The woman told me based on my chest measurements I need a 22. BAHA! What? Look, I get what the size chart says, but I also have to consider these points in my determination of what size I get:

* The dress is an empire waist. The waist and hip region on a size 22 will SWALLOW my bottom half WHOLE. No way.

* The wedding is in June. That’s 5 months away. I guarantee my back/chest will shrink in that amount of time. I'm smart- "Last hired, first fired". The last area you gain weight will be the first place that you lose it- and my chest has gotten bigger only in the past few months.

* An 18 should work for me with Bill. I have a feeling it'll still need taken in. *sigh*

Does anyone use a heart rate monitor or calorie burned thingy? I need one- I want to know what I'm burning- ACCURATELY! Suggestions?

I'm craving wine. Should I partake or skip because of the diet? Oh, I just don't know.

That's all that's on my mind for today- Hope you all have a fun, safe Friday evening!

Brady's Glamor shot of the week, fashion and scare tactics

I'm well aware my background doesn't match my header anymore- BUTT I just love (and collect) owls too MUCH, so I just HAD to :-)

I wanted to share with you all a very special glamor shot of Brady from about a year ago- It's still one of my favorites of him. Just look at that face, that expression, that stance! *sigh* He's a pro model.

And you know I can't really post without showing you darling fashion items I'm eyeballing. So without further ado:

Romantique Top- ModCloth.com
I just find it to be VERY classy and work appropriate. Paired with a pencil skirt and pumps. Heck yes.

Lorraine Dress- Delias.com
I haven't shopped from Delia's since I was in 8th GRADE! I'm wondering if they run small- probably because it's Juniors, so I'll upsize on this cute, comfy dress and hope it's long enough! Love the blue color, and can see a belt and cardigan and cute jewelry making this simple and cute.
Bias Ruffles Racerback- Anthropologie
Love the color, love the ruffles. Hope it doesn't make my bust look bigger. This is perfect for layering! Again with the blue color....

Michael Kors Webster Clutch
This color is to die for!!

WORKOUT: Yesterday (Wednesday) I went to the gym and got in 45 minutes of cardio and decided to do a few leg machines. I hadn't done the BUTT BLASTER in forever and a day, so naturally, I sauntered over.....Damn. It was worse than my cardio for that day! I was sweating and hurting. In a great way. I love that butt machine. USE IT! It's a great sweat machine.

Eats: My stomach has been weird the past few days. I feel nauseous and don't have an appetite for anything, except a carbonated drink to settle my stomach. It's strange- since when am I NOT hungry? This morning, instead of my usual egg whites and oatmeal I had Greek Yogurt. Yup- just a little cup of Greek Yogurt. I made my lunches for the rest of the week and my protein was fish....I threw it out. I almost threw up when I looked at it. All I can stand to stomach is chicken breast or tuna...What's up with that? Anyone have any good, main sources of protein for my meals? I have a feeling fish will be OFF the menu for awhile. And P.S. I don't like tofu.

It's rainy and nasty here today- and the thunder last night sounded like a helicopter was landing on my house. Did Brady bark? Oh...no. BUT, he'll trot downstairs on random nights and bark at nothing and scare the crap out of me. Freak. Living alone, I love it- but having a house all to myself, instead of a one-bedroom apartment is different for me. The other night I was in bed early, in a great sleep- and all of the sudden I hear two big thuds like someone was POUNDING on the front door trying to get in.

I scurried out of my bed and was breathing so heavy I thought I might pass out- called my Mom and said stuff along the lines of, 'Mom..*gasp*gasp*gasp*, I'm really scared! OMG!"- all the while I'm being "brave" and going downstairs and searching through every bathroom, pantry and closet. I made her drive 30 minutes to come to my house and take me and Brady to my parents house (BAHAH. You can laugh. I won't hate you.) Wanna know what that thud was? Right before she got here- something told me to look in my shower. As I peered behind the curtain, I saw the culprit: My entire shower caddy that hangs on the shower head had fallen, right along with my big ass bottles of shampoo and body wash. *sigh*

Needless to say, that thing is now taped up in places, so there's no chance of it ever falling again. Trashy, yes.

So anyway- nasty and rainy today. I may skip the gym and hang out inside with my P90X videos. Maybe some Legs and back? Or how about Plyometrics. We'll see.... :-)

Day 2 of P90X: Plyometrics + Flooding in GA??

I'm originally from Alabama, guys, and this flooding in ATL?? IT'S boggling my MIND!  So weird to me.  Has this ever happened before? No idea.  But I hope everyone I know who lives in that area is fine. Fitting Back In: I know you are. YAY! :)

I have never seen this in Atlanta before. Please avoid Freedo... on Twitpic

So, on to the hard stuff.  This week I'm taking a Strategic Communication course at Georgetown in place of the usual work week--not bad--got done around 5:00, came home and started Plyometrics courtesy of P90X.  It was hard, guys.  Not gonna lie.  Add in the fact my chest, back and biceps are sore from yesterday's workout and you have a next to impossible workout. I did manage to do most of the moves, but the way its set up is you do 4 sets of different plyo moves.  You do each set TWICE. Gheeshhhh.  Lots of jumps I could NOT do. LOL Kinda funny imagining what I looked like do a cheer-like jump. BAHAH! I felt great after the 58 minutes though, and took my happy little butt to the tanning bed.  Two thumbs up for getting back into a routine :-)

Tomorrow is Arms and Shoulders + AB RIPPER (AKA: DEMON).  Are they serious? My abs are incredibly sore from Monday's Ab Ripper session.  That thing was intense. The thing I've picked up about P90X is there is very little rest.  You're constantly working--which is a good thing once you get into the swing of the program I'm sure. I'm excited to see how I do three weeks from now.  It's nice to look back and see what you accomplished strength wise.

Now I'm just enjoying my after workout protein shake, about to pop in Britney Spears: For The Record. Love some Netflix.  And yes, love me some Brit Brit. I must say, however, that I saw her Circus tour twice and this past time a few weeks ago just wasn't up to par as the first go-round. Blah. Although she did do a kick-ass r
endition (LIVE might I ADD) of Alanis' "You Oughta Know". LOVE that
song. Yes yes yes. I leave you with a photo of her killing that song....Goodnight ladies.

Day 1 of P90X (FINALLY!): Chest and Back + Ab Ripper

FINALLY, started P90X after having it collect dust on the coffee table for a few weeks. Here is my Day 1 overview.

I don't know, seriously, how any woman can get do P90X's Chest and Back DVD.  I sure as hell couldn't do all of the moves.  The workout itself was fine, but besides the pull-ups (waiting for my pull-up bar to get here in the mail) and push-ups, there were only a few other moves in the workout. What??  I cannot do a push-up. A REAL one.  I can only do so many on my knees at that, and in the DVD you do two "rotations" of about 3 or 4 different push-up variations. Ugh. Really?? Really.

Upper body strength is not my forte', so I wasn't that surprised, but for most of the DVD I just stood around.  Sure, I would get down and do as many wimp push-ups as I could, but I felt like my precious workout time was wasted.  I think from now on when this DVD comes up in the rotation of workout discs, I'll incorporate a run or 45 minutes on the elliptical.  The Ab Ripper DVD was, of course, a good workout.  Ab work is always a challenge.

Tomorrow is Plyometrics--I have high hopes for this one.  Hoping it really gets me gasping for breathe.  haha Yes, I'm serious! I love the burn.

Otherwise, my eating was great today--trying to get back into the swing of things, and so far so good.  Excluding the teeny fact that I'm now craving cake and/or cookie batter with chocolate chips. BAH!! Funny, I didn't have this craving until "COULDN'T" have it. Go figure, right? Guess it also doesn't help I'm watching the history of chocolate on television. :-)

My time here in DC is winding down.  I think the count is 6 weeks, 2 days. Please don't get me wrong.  I like DC, getting great work experience here, but I miss Alabama, and I'm ready to settle down and unpack my LIFE! (For a few years anyway) I've been living out of a suitcase (or two) for 4.5 months now.  Strange way of life.  Brady (my Chihuahua) and I are ready to move into our new house :-)  Did I tell you guys I will be a first-time home buyer come November?? All I can do is daydream and decorate the house in my head--I know exactly how I want to decorate (minus the guest bedroom...ANY IDEAS? Colors, decor, etc? Would love to hear what you guys think.)

Here are a few photos of the house.  3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 1 car garage.  I didn't get photos of the upstairs. Those and more will come in a few months!

Empty living room/Front Door

Little Backyard perfect for Brady and friends. Seller is putting up a privacy fence! WOO

Kitchen-- Paint is needed. Yellow, gotta gooooo

Living room.  The seller furniture. Mine will be awesome ;-)

Finally, the front :-) PERFECT.

Have a great Sunday evening and an even better MONDAY MORNING!!

Soaked to the bone and loving it

I had a fantastic weekend!  Friday, I got to see my favorite and most entertaining band eva, Better Than Ezra, although the night didn't quite go as planned.  I always get to their concerts early so I can be in the front row--that is the only way to see them in my opinion.  Stood there with m fellow BTE fans for a good 2 hours, praying that weather.com was wrong and that the predicted thunderstorms were from a false reading! LOL..........So, naturally after all that hoping and praying I did, right after the sucky warm-up act left the stage, the bottom dropped out. Me and several others stayed PUT, and got drenched.  I had brought a rain jacket of sorts, but couldn't get it on fast enough--I was SOAKED, but man it was fun :-)

Then, as if that wasn't whack enough, BTE decided they were moving their show inside a tiny ass bar beside the stage outside....uhm. No.  I wasn't thrilled, and they only played an 8 song acoustic set.  And there were drunk hoebags pushing through the crowd to get to the bathroom.  How did we end up in the area where the bathroom line was formed?  Overall, though....GREAT time. They're playing today at another outdoor venue, and I'm thinking of driving the 1.5 hours to hopefully catch a FULL show.  :-)  I just saw them at the 9:30 club in DC, you would think I'd get enough.  Never. :)

I broke down and bought P90X.  I was always the one who said I could just go to the gym and get the sam results by doing my weight routine, but since I'm so busy these days and have formed the habit of only doing 20 minutes of weights, I decided to try it out.  I got it off ebay for $50 bucks used.  I found a downloadable routine schedule online and already know what I need to eat.  I'll let you guys know how this journey goes.  Excited for something new besides treadmills and ellipticals.

Drowned Rats- I'm on the left in my red get-up. ha!

I must confess....

... that I had 7 Mich Ultra's, a bowl of Samoa Girl Scout Cookie Ice Cream and (organic!) olive oil and basil french fries. All of the above is NOT on my dietary list of "CAN EATS". HA!! I don't feel as bad as I thought I would, this morning. I worked hard this week, and although there were no changes when I went to weigh myself and take measurements, I'm OK with that. It's been one week since I've been back at it hard. I still have two whole months to reach my goal of dropping (on the high end) 18 pounds. :-) Today is back on the wagon with a great cardio and leg workout, a new halibut recipe and relaxation!

On e-bay (my fave!), I found DVD's from P90X being sold separately. Ones peaking my interest: Plyometrics and Abs. I bet those are both KILLER! Since I can do most all of those moves on my own, I saw no need to buy the whole set. Anyone can do exactly what he does and get the same results. It just takes hard work and a certain sequence of moves.

Breakfast yesterday was good, at least. Egg whites plus one egg mixed with sprinkling of cheddar cheese, onions and pepper. On the side, a turkey sausage link. Yes...LOVE those. A little high in sodium, but every once in awhile is OK. I was also craving some OJ! I can't usually drink it because of the sugar content, but I broke down and decided I need some.

This is a short one for today. I need to step away! from the computer screen and live real life for today! Sometimes I feel like I'm always on the internet (shopping, doing work, browsing, blogging...etc.).

Have a great Saturday!
