Short and sweet

First of all- you guys must try the Slow-cooked Salsa Chicken. I, for one, don't really get the idea of slow cooking- is it supposed to taste better? Is it SUPPOSED to be convenient, because how is that convenient? Your food has to cook for 6 hours- can anyone keep me from feeling stupid and explain? Either way- I love it! First time I've used my little baby. The chicken was OH so tender and the salsa, taco seasoning and mushroom soup was an awesome, delicious combo. How can something so healthy (besides being high on the sodium side) be so good? I almost feel guilty- I DO feel guilty. In my mind, my ass needs to be eating fish and chicken 24/7. It's all mental.

I'm tired today. Staying up late watching stupid TV and being back in the gym has caught up with me on this Wednesday evening. I decided that as much as I wanted to and needed to, cardio was OUT of the question after work. I took to my lovely at-home weights and worked on my biceps, triceps, abs and back. I figured as long as I can fit in cardio 4X this week I'm happy. Only because it's my first week back- otherwise, yet again, I'd feel the guilt within.

Current Anthro obsession: These babies. Budding T-Strap Shoes. (Check them out on Kim over at Anthroholic.)

They are UH-mazing! Unfortunately SOLD OUT online- even called customer service and no luck finding them in stores anywhere. I guess I Ebay stalk or hope that they miraculously appear in my closet. Blah. They are DARLING! I just love fashion pieces that make a statement without being TOO overdone. To me these scream- "I'm a glam bitch."

Tomorrow I want to re-post and entry I did at the start of my blog of time line photos from my weight-loss journey. My weight goes up and down (lately mostly UP!!), but I thank God all the time that I'm 5'10 and when I gain weight, I gain it evenly.

Until tomorrow :-)

Twenty-Ten will be a good one

Happy New Year to all the lovely bloggers in blogging land! My NYE wasn't eventful whatsoever- I planted my ass on my couch, sipped on Bellini's and watching New Years Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. I must say, I adore him- He's damn good at what he does. So I enjoyed it- and I enjoyed the music and yadda yadda. So that was that- I woke up today with no hangover, surprisingly, as I had drank the entire boittle of champagne BY myself. lol. Oops. next NYE- Hopefully skiing in the Colorado hills.

Today I spent the day shopping for cute house thing with my mom- and came home with some really cute things, including:

My favorite ever :-)

The two metal scroll decor on either side

Cute orb table decor
Two new bar stools for the counter
Candlestick set- no candles and no place to put these...yet
I also spent the majority of the day perusing clothes online- and found some VERY darling items I cannot live (or so I think) without:

I'm loving this light grey color- but am slightly torn. Do I get this one or the camel colored khaki color? Off hand I can probably put together more outfits with this color. What do you guys think? I see this with a cute top, cardigan, cute belt, tights and those Aldo wedges I just bought. And could go right into springtime as well...

I hope you all had a great time ringing in the new year- and I hope and pray for a joy-filled year for all of you :-)

Fashion Finds - Anthro and Aldo

I had to share a few of the findings I've come across online - and might I say, I don't know HOW I ever lived without online shopping! Especially when one store is out of stock of an item- it's as easy as 1-2-3 to find it online...somewhere!

This skirt, for example. It's by Edme and Esyllte for Anthropologie, called The Sidestep Skirt. I believe it was in stores only a few months ago, but since sold out, of course. I found it on ebay, in my size, for $40 bucks total. I know, I know- $40 is still quite a bit for a skirt, but considering the retail price- I'm happy...NOW...what to pair it with? Ideas??

These earrings are darling! $68 from J. Crew.

Pearl Jewel Box Earrings

These babies remind me of shoes Anthro would also sell- but for a FRACTION of the cost! These are darling, I think- and come in three colors.

It's snowing!!!!!!!!!!! In ALABAMA. Beware: Tons of pics

Yes, I know most of you hate the snow, but since us Alabamians NEVER get snow, this is a big deal to me. :-) We did get snow last year up North, but I'm from South AL, so only just drove through it. It was so funny--I got a text from my mom, who said it was sprinkling snow down their way, and I just knew it had to be snowing here! I jumped out of bed and flung open the curtains! There it was...all over! I of course took photos this morning.

Brady does NOT like the snow. He stood in one spot.....and shook.

He finally did some smelling...

Snow covered rooftops. hahaha

Trying to make him be still for a few pictures! Come on, now dog!

My car :-)My snowball--it's in the freezer by the vodka. LOL

A run down yesterday eats:

Had a tasty egg white scramble with cheese, onions and tabasco sauce :) Even looked good in the pan! LOADS of protein to kickstart the morning.

Lunch was a new recipe called Mexican Halibut courtesy of my fave, Oxygen magazine. The side chunky salsa was spicy (thanks, jalapeno), halibut was AMAZING (and expensive! two filets for $18?! AH! I could bought makeup with that! LOL). Let me know if you make it. It's worth it. AND full of protein!

Mexican Halibut

3/4 cup fresh pineapple (I used canned though)
2 tbsp diced red bell pepper
2 green onions, sliced
1 tsp minced jalapeno pepper
2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
4 4-oz halibut filets
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Fresh ground black pepper to taste

* Make salsa: Combine pineapple, bell pepper, jalapeno, green onions, cilantro and giner in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate.

* Grill halibut until seared. Over halibut sprinkle lemon juice and black pepper and cook 10 minutes per inch of thickness, until fish flakes easily with a fork. Serve with the salsa.

I decided my workout yesterday was going to be kick-ass, and oh was it. Beforehand I had a half of a sweet potato to load up on carbs for energy, topped with laughing cow swiss. It did the trick. I stayed for an 1 hour, 20 minutes doing cardio and legs.

Stairmachine: 20 minutes
Treadmill: Running interval workout (HARD! Couldn't make it through the whole thing. Granted this was my first go at it.)
Legs, legs, legs! They were burning after!
Abs

It's 10am and I have yet to eat anything. I've decided to just break down and eat this:

It has ALL of my daily carb limit packed into one package, but I figure I eat it, then do my workout later, and I'm all good. I've decided I'll be aware and "smart", but will not to let carbs rule my life too much from here on out. Especially on weekends. It looks good, aye? I can't wait to try it. 21 Grams of protein.

Yesterday it has been three days since I checked my mail--weird. Checked it Saturday and I finally received some of the goodies I bought off ebay for a fraction of the regular price!!

OPI nailpolish in "Taupeless dancer", Mac's fafi blush in Fashion Frenzy, Mac's creamsheen lipstick in Gleam, and TA-DA!! A itunes gift card. I have a credit card, when I use I get itunes rewards once I spend so much money. Worth it.
That's all for today...I hope! Happy snow day (but come ONNNNN Spring!)
