Candles By Victoria Haul and Review

Here I am....in this video.....being weird. My specialty!

I love this candle company more than any other candle company, and I've tried quite a few. I've blogged about Candles By Victoria numerous times before so this is probably nothing new to any of you. This is only part 1 of 2 and is 15:00 minutes long, so you should probably only watch this if you're obsessed with candles or have nothing better to do :)

I placed this order November 1 and received it on November 12 of this week. Her scents are amazing and have a wonderful throw- meaning it'll fill up your house with delicious smells! Her candles range from bakery goodness to house blends to Christmasy scents (my personal favorite).

I was not paid or compensated in any way for this blog post by the way...It was out of my own love for the company that I blog about it.

Part 2 will be posted tomorrow.

Winter/Christmas Bath and Body Works Candle Haul

I uploaded a video on my YouTube page of my recent haul at Bath and Body Works- Love their candles. It's not my FAVORITE candle company or candles, but you can't beat their 2 for $20 sale! They usually have them once or twice a month it seems like.

Hope you enjoy the video- I've been even more obsessed lately with candles and just placed an order last week with Candles By Victoria (MY FAVE!) so keep a lookout for that review in case you need some ideas for an order! Christmas is coming.

Company of the YEAR: Candles By Victoria. Duh.

Look. I know all you ladies like candles. I KNOW you do. If you're a fairly new follower, you've probably missed my two older posts about this company and in that case...read this post and then go getchoo some candles. Oh, and I'm writing this because I want to and I love the company that much....they get all of my Mom and I's extra money...

Candles By Victoria is a company in Texas. Yeah. No big corporate HOO-HAW here, folks. The candle company is owned by none other than Victoria herself and has made a HUGE success via YouTube and the internet. I'm guesstimating I first found out about the company two years ago and have been hooked ever since.

Yankee candle and Bath and Body Works still have some of my business when it comes to candles, but by "some business" I mean to say that I'm probably more likely to buy a candle from Casey Anthony than those two companies...Yeah. I said it.

I mean, the woman has any candle scent you could EVEN imagine- and I'm still trying new ones each time I order- and STILL getting amazed at how unique each scent can be.

Here's a bulleted list (because I have a feeling you all like organized chaos) of the AWESOMENESS that is this company:

#1: You get a free scent shot with every order. Free? Did someone say free? Sold. Scent shots are little baby samples of wax you melt in a tart warmer. This is the coolest way to determine if you like a scent or not before you splurge on a bigger sized candle. THE way to go for you news out there. You can find those here.
Scent Shot-tastic!

#2: Master Fragrance List love. The list of all the scents she offers. over 600! Check out the list. It's categorized by scent type, so whether you enjoy bakery scents or wanna die when you smell anything floral, there's something for everyone.

#3: When I call, comment on their Facebook page or e-mail them....I feel like I'm talking to a celebrity. Victoria is ALWAYS so helpful (her entire staff/family is) and sweet. Seriously. Customer service award of LIFE. I think I've had one broken candle my entire time purchasing from them and there were no issues in getting a new one. I've had questions about my orders, new candles, candle scents and all of those questions were answered timely and with care.

#4: THESE:
These aren't her "regular" candles. These are the E'special ones. ALL of that is wax and yes, they smell SO good. If you prefer to stick with the regular sized candles this is what they look like:

16oz Candles

The candles come in three different sizes and also come in what she calls "Sample Packs"- You can;t go wrong with this. It comes with 6 candles of your choice in your choice of size. I always end up getting the biggest size because I know which ones I love. The price for 6 candles? $70. Seriously. ONE candle at B&B Works is $20 bucks if not MORE. Pshhh. Get a grip B&B Works. (To find these sample packs go to the candles tab on her website, page 2. You'll see 'em)

#5: You've decided you want to order, but are overwhelmed with the amount of scents she offers. I hear it a lot. What I always tell people, FIRST, is to buy scent shots. Just start buying like crazy to try them out. Smart move. SECOND, if you wanna jump right in and buy a bigger size, go with what ya know. If you have a favorite candle at home by some other company, try to find a dupe of that scent on her list. (I can almost guarantee it smells 100% better than the one you currently have.) THIRD, you can always just take my advice and buy from my list of faves:

-Bella Swan
-Edward Cullen (No need to be twilight fan to enjoy these two unique scents!)
-Enchanted Forest
-Whistlin' Dixie
-Bathtime with Pooh (Lush dupe of "Honey I Washed the Kids" soap)
-French Quarter
-Cajun Cornbread
-Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha (A coffee scent with a fruity kick. LOVE)
-Berry Me Alive
-Black Cherry Crumble (YOU can smell the black cherries and the pastry crumble. MMM!!!)
-Hawaiian Dream
-Bahama Mama
-Wood Nymph
-Sexy in Stilettos
-Pumpkin Cheesecake (Amazing.)
-Simply Delicious (PERFECT Fall scent, RIGHT here.)
-Gain Island Fresh (OMG! Fresh, laundry softener smell, hellooo!!!)
-Fresh Laundry (Need I say more?)

In closing, if you were ever thinking of buying or have bought and would like an opinion from moi about something to get yourself, your mom or the hobo that live by your garbage can, lemme know!

I'd love to take a quick snapshot of my candle collection, but I'm not at home. I'll make a note to do so.

Do any of you buy from Victoria?? What's your favorite scent?

OCTOBER!! + This early bird caught some worms today!

OCTOBER 1st!!
(VERY WORDY BLOG)

Today is the start of the absolute BEST, most fantastic, amazing month of the entire YEAR. Or so I think. No...no, no. I KNOW it is.  So much so that I want my wedding to be in October and I'd like to think I'd be able to plan my future children's birth so they land in October.....HA!!!! I know, I know....

#1: In 11 days it will be the day of my birth and everyone shall bow down to me and kiss my large size 10 feet. Yeah right. But I'm so excited! I love birthday's! Everyone birthday's! They're so much fun and so special- Plus you get tons of birthday gift codes/gifts from stores in your e-mail inbox. Muahah! So far I've received a special discount/gift code from:
Sephora
Talbot's
Banana Republic
Anthropologie

I doubt I'll use the Banana discount, but I've already picked up my Sephora birthday gift and used the Talbot's one this morning (more on that later). The Anthropologie discount is still quite a conundrum in my head- what to buy? There are way too many things on my wishlist. I need to be smart about this.....do I use it to buy several cheaper items- or one huge item? Help.

#2: In 17 days I'll be hearing my favorite band on earth, Better Than Ezra, play live! Last time I saw them was last August in D.C. and then again in Baltimore a few weeks after. They make me extremely giddy and happy and put on a fun, entertaining live show!

#3: Not sure if I'm very excited about this at the moment- but October 24th, I'll be running my first 10 mile race in D.C. I'm not ready. Seriously- and I'm freaking out inside.........

#4: Brady's birthday is on Halloween! My baby boy Chihuahua will be 3 years old- so young, yet time has passed so quickly. He's been with me through so many moves the past few years and has put up with my ass when I'm in the worst mood. He's the best doggy eva eva. Pictured below are Brady and Chiva, the newest addition. They are absolutely THRILLED to be dressing up for Halloween- isn't that obvious?

#5: It's Breast Cancer Awareness month. Something I try to support whenever I can. This is a disease that affects so many women- women I know, you know...everyone is affecte din some way. It's important that we ARE aware and that we do something- anything to support the cause. Wear pink this month!! :-)

I sleep with my phone by my bed. This morning at 5 o'clock, I heard it go off- I received an e-mail. No big deal, but I decided to check it. In my inbox was a lovely e-newsletter from Victoria at Candles By Victoria. I have RAVED about her candles in previous posts. They are the BEST smelling candles on the market. Forget Yankee, forget White Barn and Bath and Body Works- Seriously, forget them. She uses triple scented oils to fragrance her candles- so the throw is quite awesome- and she gives THE most fabulous customer service. I seriously don't know hoe she does it all. Did any of you buy from the Online Candle Party I had a few months ago? I can't remember. If you did, please let me know what you thought........

ANYWAY- in this month's newsletter was a 10% discount for the entire month (This is a pretty regular thing) and also a contest. You had to read the entire newsletter and find the backwards spelled word and be one of the first five people to e-mail her back with the word that was spelled backwards. If you were one of the five, you received a FREE 9oz candle of your choice! Heck yes. I was all over that....squinting in the dark with no glasses on....scrambling to find the word.....I found it! I won. I never win ANYTHING!! I know everyone says that, but come on- I read all the time how people win blog giveaways. I've been blogging for over a year and have never won a gosh darned thing. Hey, that's OK. I'm cool with it. lol. Can't wait to receive my candle! Please go visit her site. It can be a little overwhelming as she has 550+ scents! My best advice to start, is to simply buy a fragrance you would normally like from some other company.

I was a busy girl this morning- I knew my birthday discount for Talbot's would kick in- and they had sent me another doscount coupon at the beginning of September. I decided I was going to splurge and buy exactly what I had my eye on....This leather bomber jacket.

I have a dark brown leather blazer- and have been in the market for both a grey and camel colored leather jacket. I love this look and think it would look fabulous over a black dress, with brown boots for work.

Retail price: $399 (eek! No way I'd spend that much for a JACKET. Oh, but I'll buy a $200 hairdryer. lol)
Birthday Bonus of 15%: -$59.85
Best Customer Savings coupon: -$67.83

My total was around $287! That's amazing :-) Still expensive, but I had to use the coupons somewhow. I like a few pieces here and there from them, but couldn't shop there for all my needs. Still a little too older looking for me just yet.

Talbot's has gotten some flack lately for their re-marketing campaign- some say they look an awful lot like J. Crew. They do look similar- but Who cares? J. Crew has given me some shitty products recently, so I'm not too happy with the quality as of late. And J. Crew's tops suck. Their biggest size still won't go over my rib cage most times. I mean, seriously? I may be a size 12, but I'm not a damn Abominable Snowman! Anyway. like I said, who cares.

Whew. What a long post. I've been chipper and crazy this morning.

October, you're finally here! :-)

Starbucks let-down and Chi Omega Event

Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte was a huge bummer for me. After seeing all of the raving about it on others' blogs I finally tried it today. I don't taste pumpkin. All I taste is nasty in my mouth. lol. Not sure what's up with that, but I'm sad I didn't like it. I always enjoy Fall smells/tastes. Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha sounds delicious- I think I'll try that next time. Do you have a fall scent that you just can't get enough of? Mine is definitely Candles By Victoria's Simply Delicious candle. Mmm mmm MMM!!

This week has me going to a few appointments (eye doctor and haircut!) and on Friday I'm hitting the road after work to attend my sorority's Big/Little Night! This excites me because I haven't attended any Chi Omega function since 2006 when I graduated college. Not even a Homecoming game! Sad, yes. To better describe what Big/Little night is: As a new member of a sorority you'll get a Big Sister. She's just a woman who has been in the sorority for a year or more, who will basically be there to help you out with school, etc. It's a wonderful thing and really allows you to have a better sense of "belonging" in the sorotity as a whole. Sounds cheesy, I'm sure to those who don't have a clue about sororities, but I assure you it's cool stuff. :-)

Anyway, I'm going up Friday with MY sorority little sister to see MY little sister to the 5th power (haha yeah I made that term up) get her little. It's a like a big chain of "family members." It's just nice to still be involved in the organization, which is essentially what a sorority is. It's the greatest organization I was ever involved in, for so many reasons- and the great thing is that I'll always be a member. I just don't have to pay dues anymore as an alumane. Muahah! I bought this dress to wear for the event. Had to represent with the Straw color. Chi Omega's other official color is Cardinal  ;-) So I'm thinking a red cardigan.....

That's all the boring blab I'm doing for today. Happy Tuesday!

If you're a candle/scent lover- you'll wanna read this!

I LOVE candles. Yes, I DO. Yankee candles are my favorite, or they WERE until I found Candles By Victoria.

I've mentioned these candle in a previous blog...

She has a candle business based in Texas and has started from the ground up, and thanks to Beauty Guru's on YouTube and bloggers, she has REALLY become successful! Even if she hadn't had all of that support, I know she still would have made a killing. Her candles are TO DIE FOR! The scents are SPOT-on and really put out a lasting scent.

I was going to place an online order today (yikes!) and saw that you could host an online candle party of your own. I thought that was SUCH a cute idea- remember the candle parties you always got invited to back in the day?

So, I'm having an online candle party.

I'm inviting you all to my online candle party with Candles By Victoria!

All you have to do to participate in my partay is place an online order from Candles By Victoria. All orders will be shipped within 2-7 business days.

Visit the link below and if you decide you would like to place an order please leave my hostess number (2316) in the COMMENT box during the check out process or email my hostess number along with your name to victoria@candlesbyvictoria.com.

Even if you decide you can not order at this time, stop in and sign the guest book to enter in the free monthly candle giveaway!

My online candle party ends July 25th so order your candles today!! Remember my hostess number in the comment box: 2316

I know there must be someone you know who needs a candle!

P.S.- I recommend the candle packages. On the website click on "candles", then page 2. You'll see you can order 6 different candles for a lower price than individually. I usually like the biggest sized ones, but the 9 oz REALLY put off a good smell! Or try the scent shots. You can try out different scents if you have a tart burner before buying the big ones.

She also has a Scent Description page that helps you out a little with the choosing! :-)

Product Rave: Candles By Victoria

Listen to me very closely-- if you love Yankee candles or ANY other candles that smell fabulous, you NEED to try a small-town Texas shop called Candles By Victoria. I came across these candles by way of YouTube (yes, I have a YouTube obsession. I've accepted this.) and just had to try them. Since then, I've purchased several candles and little tarts- and have loved most all of them. I'm SUCH a candle snob, and won't buy any candle unless it's from Yankee or another reputable brand (sorry Wal-Mart and Glade), and these are by far the best and strongest smelling scents.

Victoria is the business owner and maker of these delicious candles- and she is as sweet as can be! So helpful! I had a broken candle in one of my orders and she immediately shipped me a replacement, no charge. Great customer service and a great price for such strong smelling scents.

The candle in the photo is one of my favorites called "Bella Swan", after the Twilight character. It's amazing- and since you can't smell it, it can be described (by Victoria on her website)

She describes each and every scent she makes on her website, here. She makes any scent you can think of: Lush dupes, fruity, perfume inspired, baked goods, tropical and her own concoctions, and each scnet is SPOT on to the real thing. The scent throw is awesome- you can smell it from rooms away!

Her candles come in several sizes and you can even purchase these small tarts (called Scent Shots) for $2 bucks each- that way you can try the scent out without having to buy the entire candle first.I would definitely recommend going this route if you're a newbie to the company!

Check out Victoria on YouTube!
