Rewarding yourself with new workout gear and nay-sayers.

So, I'm no confident enough (YET) to sport only a sports bra or tiny tank, hell not even a regular tank, during my workouts. I'm still a t-shirt wearing worker-outer.

I always read about people who "reward" themselves with cute, bright and new workout gear when they hit a fitness milestone and I was never really interested. GIVE ME A MASSAGE!!! And although I would still prefer a massage, now that I'm seeing changes in my body I can definitely see how new workout wear would be a well-deserved reward to show off those guns or newly formed abs :)

I, frankly, can't wait to wear a bright pink Lululemon sports bra for my workouts and have nothing flop here or there. That's a frivolous and vain goal, but ya know what? It's a goal. No matter how silly anyone else thinks it is. I have my eye on a some stuff:

You get the idea. Anything cute, strappy, pink and grey.

On the opposite spectrum from bright, pink and cheerful things- can you believe I've had some "friends" who think my YouTube videos and things I'm doing to promote Beachbody is actually FUNNY. Really? I'm taking this seriously, as something I am passionate about, and these fools are poking fun. I shouldn't let it bother me, since these remarks are coming from people who just aren't that smart.

Proving people wrong is the best revenge, I always say :)

Happy Hump Day!

Clean Eating- Asian Style Salmon Patties

This is one of my go-to clean eating recipes. Love it! I never actually realized how easy this recipe was until I was filming simultaneously. lol

Do any of you eat clean or try to make clean recipes every now and then? I'm not the best at being 100% clean with eating, but I do try to eat healthy whenever possible. I've even been known to make a vegan recipe here and there.

Share with me any recipes you think I might like! I'm always looking for new recipes to try!

Damn you, Suri.

BAHA!! Ok, so this video of Suri and Katie just cracked me up. Why?

Because I was, apparently, once a young Suri myself. Wanting to be picked up and carried by my mom until I was just too damn heavy to pick up! My family used to joke that I'd be carried to prom by my Mom.

After watching this video, I started scanning YouTube for other Suri videos. And...Oh God. I was Suri Cruise when I was a child....I think I'm obsessed now....

Intro video for my YouTube Channel

Happy Sunday....but where did the weekend go??

I finally made the introduction video for my newly revised YouTube Channel. I thought I'd share it with you guys! Some of you will especially enjoy the cameo by my pups. HA!

I'll be doing more filming today of recipes and how I prepare all of my healthy meals on Sunday- for the entire week. And might I just say, I hate the only video editing program I have? Yeah, I hate it. But I can't justify buying a fancy video editor right now. ;)

What did you all do this weekend?

Beachbody Coach status!

FINALLY, finally- I'm a Beachbody Coach. I put it off for a few weeks just to do more research and to get my ducks in order.

Some of you may not have a clue what the hell I'm talking about- and that's cool and all- but just know I'm excited about it!
Love this shizz

I workout with Beachbody's programs already: P90X, Insanity (my fave), Brazil Butt Lift and I drink Shakeology (which I loved before and NOW), so I just felt like I belonged as a coach for this company. It doesn't hurt I get a little extra cash (hopefully) along the way. It'd be nice to have some cash, especially after having to pay these damn vet bills for Brady. Poor baby (update on him later).

In case you just want to see what I'm doing so far, check out my Facebook Fan Page (and like/follow me if you so desire. Tell yo fitness loving friends!) and YouTube Account via the links on the right sidebar. You can ALSO see my Beachbody website here ----------> Coach J-Dawg (haha! No, don't call me J-Dawg)

This is kinda scary to venture into. I mean, what if I fail? What if people think I'm not fit enough to be a coach? These things cross my mind, but I'm here to encourage people, just like I do on this blog- I'm writing about it here, so why not write about it on a different forum?

It's almost the weekend, so you can all, hopefully, breathe a little easier :)

Happy Thursday!!

30A- Where I'll be this weekend.....!!!

Ahhh. I can feel the relaxation take over my body already.

This weekend I'm headed down to 30A- which is the scenic highway along Florida's Gulf Coast. LOVE IT! I'm in love with the Grayton Beach and Seaside, FL area. Lower Alabama may be boring, but not when you can drive 2 hours to the white sandy beaches :) :)

Enjoy your weekend!
Hopefully by early next week I'll have exciting news about my new fitness business venture- and I expect all of you who have followed my blog for the healthy recipes and fitness topics, to follow me in this new adventure :)

You probably should know more about me....

I enjoy "Getting to Know You" posts from time to time, because personally, when I start following someone's blog, I find that I am skimming backwards through their blog to find out more about them- what they like, how they write, their quirks, personality on "paper", etc.

One of my favorite people in the blog world tagged me to answer 11 questions about myself. I just couldn't decline the darling woman :) Marion, thanks for the tag!

1) What is the best gift you've ever received? Oh, no. Why is this such a hard question?! I honestly cannot remember. There has to have been something extra special, something homemade, with sentimental value given to me through my many years, but I can't think of a single one. The only thing I can come up with right now is Barbie's Dreamhouse. lol. Seriously? I have a lot on my mind alright?? :)

2) What color best describes you and why? Pink is my favorite color, but I think red describes me best. Red is a sexy, vibrant color that turns heads. I may not always turn heads, but I enjoy being a sexy woman with a mind of her own and an edginess about her. Sadly, sometimes I still feel that I have to "tone it down" around certain people because they probably associate sexy with slutty, but whatever. That's their problem.

3) Dogs or cats?  Explain your choice. Dogs. Dogs dogs dogs. Cats are cold-hearted bitches.
See?!!!
4) What has the ability to make you laugh out loud? BAHA!! (That's what I sound like when I laugh out loud, btw.) well, for one, I find that damnyouautocorrect.com gets me ROLLING sometimes with the stuff that's submitted. Tears-falling laughter. My BFF, Marion, really gets me laughing hard sometimes- between her and I we're a couple of sarcastic, crazy freaks. We even have a collective name: Menny (That's a hybrid of Marion and Jenny.)
Feast your eyes on Menny.

5) What would you order for your last meal? Anything that has a shit-ton of CARBOHYDRATES!!! Pasta, pizza, yogurt, ice cream, peanut butter Reese's eggs, lasagna. The list could go on. I like carbs. It, then, makes sense that carbs are my enemy...

6) What color nail polish are you wearing right now? I'm colorless on my nails right now. BUT I did just paint my toenails a nice, peachy orange. I won't show you a photo because my toes look like ape fingers, but it's OPI and I can't remember the name. BLAH. I'm so much help.

7) What are 2 blogs you think we should know about? Definitely "Fitting Back In" and "Keeping Up With Kelly and Co." Two of my favorite girls!!!

8) Which would you prefer and why: A vacation with lots of excitement and go-go-go OR a relaxing vacation centered on recharging the batteries? I love both and have experienced BOTH and I have to say I have to have a good balance between the two or else I just either get too bored or waaaay to stressed. A nice happy medium, I always say. For most EVERYTHING actually.

9) What was the name of your first boyfriend? HAHA! Matt. That was back in third grade. Oh, the days. Wait. Are we going back that far? lol

10) What is your drink of choice on a ladies night out? Hmmmmm. I like Dos Equis Lager. Yes, a beer. BUT, a good vodka drink is always a good low-cal choice for me. I ALWAYS enjoy a good Appletini with a cinnamon-rimmed glass :) YESS!!

11) What is one goal you hope to accomplish for yourself this year? Easiest question of the lot! My main goal for myself is somewhat a mix between superficial and sincere. The first part of this goal is the superficial part (some would call it that): I want to have the best, strongest body I can posses. The fittest version of myself. I believe EVERY person should experience this. For me, this doesn't mean skinny or fitting into a pair of CUTE skinny jeans (OK, maybe somewhat...), but it means sculpted, lean muscles and a strong body inside and out. The second part of this goal goes along with the first in that I want to start and move forward with my health/fitness business venture. Recently I've questioned why on earth I wasn't doing something health and fitness related on the side of my full-time job. I workout regularly and when I'm procrastinating I'm reading up on health and fitness related issues. Also watching Food documentaries on Netflix. Good stuff!

I've always wanted to be a personal trainer, but I have reservations. The main one being that I, myself, am not FIT like you'd think a personal trainer should be. Now, personally, I wouldn't mind having someone who looked like myself train me. As long as I'm seeing results and they're working on themselves, I'm actually more open for that! Sure, it's great having a fit personal trainer to look at and strive to be like, but I've realized there's nothing wrong with the first type either. Plus, I wouldn't take on a snobby-ass client who didn't like my body shape as it was ANYWAY. Fools.

I'm not letting that hold me back anymore. My first step is to become a Beachbody Coach. Yeah, Beachbody. The people that bring you Insanity, P90X and TurboFire. OH and Shakeology. I use all this stuff anyway and it's helped me TREMENDOUSLY in my weight loss and health goals. I don't prefer the gym AT ALL. I love my at-home gym and will probably ALWAYS love it. I'm getting way deep in the weeds with this, and it was supposed to be a blog entry in itself, and will be. But, Marion asked! So I answered! :)

That's it! All my answers- Now I have to tag 11 people and ask 11 questions. I don't have a clue who of you likes to do these kinds of things so I'm just gonna go for it. Do it or don't, but just know I thought about you guys :)

Tagged Peeps:

The Questions:
1. What is YOUR #1 goal for the next year?
2. What's your biggest fear in life (Something as simple as a reptile to something you fear about life in general.)
3. What is something you wish people knew about you, that they may not see or know when first getting to know you?
4. What does your MOST favorite breakfast consist of??!
5. What's your favorite workout?
6. Have you ever been skydiving? If not, why?
7. What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?
8. What story does a member of your family ALWAYS like to tell you (and everyone else) about??
9. What was the last TV, movie or book that made you cry or feel real emotions for?
10. What is your favorite time of the year and why (spring, fall, wedding season, birthdays?)
11. Favorite song at the moment......GO!

Now, you ladies must answer these questions on your blog, tag 11 folks and ask them some questions.
Can't wait to see what y'all have to say!

If you got it flaunt it, boy I know ya want it.....

This post was inspired by a good blog friend of mine, Kelly. She's as awesome as they come and her latest blog post was about those pounds that just aren't coming off quick enough. We've all been there, right? When nothing budges and you don't know what the freaking deal is. What up fat?? Move on! Oh, but you can stay in my chestal area. Thanks so much! ;)

Kelly was asking me specifically about higher protein snacks, so I gave her my short but sweet list of the foods I grab for throughout the day for protein. Needless to say, that totally spun me up and I realized just how much I miss blogging about my healthy eating and fitness routines. A total STRONG yearning to write about it even. So, that's what I'm doing.

I think I blog about this every few months, so if you don't wanna read, move along.

At present time I can honestly say I've been doing so well with my workouts and eating healthy. So much in fact, that I've lost almost 8 pounds in TWO weeks! Then again, I gained about 15 during the holidays. LOL. Yeah, I had a bit of a free-for-all last Holiday Season. It's not normal to lose that much weight so quickly, but I'm happy it's peeling off me.

My secret? The type of cardio I choose and my diet.

I rely HEAVILY on my at-home DVD workouts. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you, Beachbody! Seriously. I'm just not big on paying gym memberships- I'd much rather have everything I need for an overall body workout right at home. I'm more likely to do it, for one!

Currently I'm relying on Insanity to whip my ass back into shape. It's SO amazing. High intensity, so if you're a beginner you'll need to start slow, but once you get into the program you'll start to see MAJOR changes FAST!

One of these days, I promise I'll show you a before and after comparison photo. It scares me to think that I'd show my less-than stellar figure off, but if it motivates someone else, who cares. But that won't be for a few more months ;)

I'm a firm believer that a healthy diet is a LIFESTYLE change. You can't just eat healthy and then after losing that weight or gaining the muscle you want, go back to your old ways unless you want to end up RIGHT where you started. And who needs or wants to move backwards?? No one!

That being said, I also believe in "everything in moderation." There are times I just want that Chocolate Peanut Butter Reese's egg, aiyt?? And I'm going to eat it! That also means, that I'm going to still do my workouts the next day and STILL eat my lovely Salmon or chicken breast at my next meal. The biggest thing I've actually soaked in recently is that I am my BIGGEST hindrance in my quest for true fitness goal reaching. I want to look back on this year and realize that I did everything I possibly could to get my body to its full fitness potential! Our bodies do so much for us and to take care of it is a HUGE deal. I want to see those defined abs and arms. I want my legs to be able to climb hill after hill- I cannot WAIT!

I expect this journey to take a year or so, and the maintenance to last a lifetime- and I'm OK with that.

I know this post is all over the place!

I've added a few new recipes to the "Eat This" page- just a few things I've been eating as of late, and also, you can follow me on Pinterest- I'm always adding foods to my boards. Healthy and the not so healthy. haha

My eventual goal? I'd like to be a personal trainer. I love the idea. I love giving advice to others on fitness and health. I love to workout MOST days. I couldn't imagine anything cooler than helping people achieve a healthy mind, body and soul. I don't know why I've never said this out loud before, but I am now. I am determined to one day be the person people look up to and ask advice. Until the, I can only add my two cents to this blog of mine.

My first step is to become a Beachbody coach! Anyone can become one, actually. You do have to pay a monthly fee, but you're part of a team and you get people to become coaches and make your own team. It's a great way to make money, yes, but you also have a big group of motivation behind you! Plus, as a coach you get discounts on Shakeology and the Beachbody workouts! UHM, yes please!! I can't justify doing it quite right now because of Brady's vet bills, but soon. it's not expensive to become a coach, but every cent counts for him.

Anyone interested in being part of my Beachbody team once I start one?? I'd love to have you guys as part of my group!

Thanks for listening to my blab! I think the next post I do will be my daily meal plan. I always like to see what others eat and how often they eat. I'm weird.

Have a great weekend!
